SUMMARY

During July monthly mean temperatures above climatological values occurred almost everywhere in the country. Most of rainfall was observed on southwestern Amazonian, eastern of Northeast and Southern Regions.

The cold frontal systems were able to reach only Rio de Janeiro during the first twenty days of the month. Afterward, they change their behavior, reaching the southern Northeast Region. In the coastal region of Rio Grande do Sul State there were two cyclogenesis. The displacement of lows associated to cold frontal systems over the South Region, caused intense rainfalls, gust winds and hailstorms in some places. Snowfall was observed at the highest locations of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul States.

The Sea Surface Temperatures presented normal conditions over Equatorial Pacific.

The power crisis still remain in the Northeast and Southeast Regions, mainly the São Francisco reservoir, which has only 20% of its capacity. In the Southeastern Region, the Três Marias-MG reservoir presented negatives values of storage, around -60%.

The total number of hot spots over Central Plains and Northeast Region detected during this month was greater than during the same period of the previous year.
