SUMMARY

The Synoptic characteristics of the atmospheric disturbances over Brazil in July are similar to those in June, i.e., typically winter system features. Six frontal systems affected the country, but only one reached north of 20ºS. In general the fronts were more affective in terms of temperature drop over the coastal belt of the northward propagation along the coast.

The oceanic and atmospheric circulation patterns continued to indicate weak La Niña conditions cooler then normal surface waters were observed in the central and eastern Pacific with deviations of –1.0º to –1.5ºC
