SUMMARY


The Pacific Ocean SST anomalies still indicated the occurrence of the La Nina phenomenon.

In this month of December, the frontal systems displaced rapidly over the Southern Region of Brazil, reaching the Southeast, and contributing to the occurrence of the South Atlantic Convergence Zone (SACZ). Upper level troughs and cyclonic vortex affected Northeast and Southeast Regions.

Rainfall was below average in large areas of Amazonia and above average in a band Northwest-Southeast extending to the south of Nordeste.

The fire monitoring pick up the largest concentration of hot spots in the Pará and Maranhão States.
